Intra-Muscular Stimulation (IMS)
What is it?
Intra-Muscular Stimulation or IMS is a safe and very effective dry needling technique using thin disposable needles. When a needle is inserted into a tightened and shortened muscle, this creates a muscle contraction reflex then the muscle returns to a relaxed state, to its normal length and tone. The needle may remain in the muscle for a few seconds or a few minutes depending on the muscle tightness.
