Dry Needling Techniques

Intra-Muscular Stimulation (IMS)

What is it?

Intra-Muscular Stimulation or IMS is a safe and very effective dry needling technique using thin disposable needles. When a needle is inserted into a tightened and shortened muscle, this creates a muscle contraction reflex then the muscle returns to a relaxed state, to its normal length and tone. The needle may remain in the muscle for a few seconds or a few minutes depending on the muscle tightness.

Physiotherapy punctures with dry needles (PPAS)

What is it?

Course given by the “Ordre Professionnel des Physiothérapeutes du Québec” for any physiotherapist who wants to use fine needles as a complementary method to traditional physiotherapy treatments to relieve musculoskeletal pain. In french, they call it PPAS “Puncture Physiothérapique d’aiguilles sèches”.
